Joyce Marter has been in private practice as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) since 1998 and founded Urban Balance in 2004. Joyce received her Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from Northwestern University and was awarded “Distinguished Alumni of The Year” in 2008. She was selected by Crain’s Chicago Business for the “40 under 40” list of 2010. She currently serves as President of the Illinois Counseling Association and is past president of the Board of the Illinois Mental Health Counselors Association.
Joyce pens her own blog at www.joyce-marter.com, is a blogger for The Huffington Post and also pens two blogs for PsychCentral: The Psychology of Success and First Comes Love. She is a public speaker and trainer for businesses, professional organizations and clinicians. Joyce has been consulted as a psychological expert on TV, radio and in various other media publications such as The Wall Street Journal and US News.
