Farah Huq is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor who earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in addiction disorders. Farah’s interests include relationship, family of origin and work-related matters, anxiety, cultural identity issues, and life transitions. Through her master’s internship at an intensive outpatient addictions clinic, Farah has become aware of the connection between addiction issues, trauma, and other life challenges and is able to focus on these issues from an integrative approach. Couples dynamics are of special interest to Farah, and consequently, she has advanced training in couples counseling (levels 1 and 2 Gottman and externship in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy) and maintains consistent training in this realm. Before becoming a psychotherapist, Farah spent 15 years in the corporate world; she understands the complexities and unique challenges that go along with working in a corporate environment. She incorporates a psychodynamic and systems approach while drawing from a myriad of treatment modalities including cognitive behavioral and solution-focused therapies and motivational interviewing. Farah feels that everyone has it in themselves to be self-aware and address elements that are causing disharmony in their lives, and thus incorporates a strength-based approach while providing a supportive and safe atmosphere.
