Taejah Vemuri is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). Prior to her graduate counseling education at Northwestern University, Taejah received a Masters in Public Health from the University of Michigan and worked for three years with youth who had histories of sexual and physical abuse at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Northwestern University. During her graduate counseling program, Taejah trained at Northwestern University’s Family Institute and at Urban Balance where she worked with young adult and middle-aged individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, phobias, eating disorders, trauma, grief and loss, family of origin, and relationships. She is Level I trained in the Gottman Method of couples counseling and has completed Level I EMDR training. Her clinical specialties include eating disorders, self-esteem, body image, and the connection between physical health and emotional well being. As a therapist, Taejah utilizes a psychodynamic perspective, but also incorporates components of cognitive behavioral therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy, depending on the needs of each client. Her goal is to provide an open and empathetic space in which clients can share their backgrounds and challenges, and move towards positive growth.
